Last updated 8/7/20. More to come. Can I email the state with a detailed driver ed question?
Yes. Use driver.education@state.mn.us for the address. What is your price? A common question. It's splashed all over the front page. $350 for six hours. What is your payment process? Regarding teen students, I prefer to get paid at the last lesson. Cash or check to Road Master. Payment policy for adult students is usually the same. NOTE for teens * I will fill out and hand over the white card after payment is made. NOTE for adults * I will fill out and hand over the Letter of Completion after payment is made. If no letter of completion is needed, I will request payment each time we drive together. * These policies are necessitated due to past experience. Do you have openings for a new customer?
Look at the schedule calendar. Do you see enough openings for yourself in the weeks and months ahead? Yes, I am taking on new students all the time. Currently, demand is high and in general I'm booked out a month ahead. |

What stations are still open for road tests?
Here's the list. I don't know when (or if) the others will be able to offer road tests . . . Hastings and Faribault, for example.
Arden Hills Anoka Eagan
Plymouth Rochester Mankato
Marshall Willmar Detroit Lakes
St. Cloud Brainerd Duluth
Grand Rapids Bemidji St. Paul (knowledge testing only)

What is the latest on the Minnesota road test exam situation?
The system is beyond broken. It is now a crisis. The state has reduced the number of test stations to 14. All I can say to metro students is consider a station as far away from the metro as possible. Trying to schedule a road test in the metro right now is very tough at best. The backlog is in the thousands. There are people outside the MN DPS who are trying to fix what is broken, but it will require time and legislators who have an open mind. Senator Housley's bill did not pass the House. That would have allowed people like me to administer the road test. I'll post updates here. I highly recommend metro road test applicants consider testing outside the metro. Scheduling in the metro is currently extremely difficult.

How are you handling implications of the protest activities?
My home base and normal sphere of operation is the southeast metro. For a few years, I've purposely been avoiding training in Minneapolis anyway. My standard training areas include Eagan, Rosemount, Inver Grove Heights, Burnsville, Lakeville, Farmington, and Hastings. I get to Northfield fairly often with students, and once in a blue moon, even Faribault. I also usually avoid downtown St. Paul now as well, unless a student is adamant about getting some experience there.
